Analysis of Nutritional Quality Attributes and Their Inter-Relationship in Maize Inbred Lines for Sustainable Livelihood

The present investigation was planned to understand the variability and inter-relationship among various nutritional quality attributes of maize kernels identify potential donors respective traits for future hybridization programs. Sixty-three inbred lines were processed estimation protein, starch, fat, sugar, 100-kernel weight, specific gravity, moisture level grain. results reveal that a wide fat seen, with special emphasis on protein concentration varied from 8.83 15.54%, starch (67.43–75.31%), weight (9.14–36.11 gm). Factor analysis revealed concentration, three major components, comprise 68.58% kernel variability. Protein exhibited significant negative correlation indicating an increase in will down-regulate weight. are proposed as development high cultivars their traits, viz., (DMR WNC NY 403 DMR 404), 2163, 2219, 2234, 2408, 2437, 2466), wt. 2113, 2213, 2233, 2414, 2435, 2465, 2474), sugar 2417), gravity 2418). Genetic distance 397 404 farthest apart lines, having differences contents, followed by 2436 2394, 2212 2430, 396 2415, 2144, NY403 2115. Moreover, this study proposes these possible combinations (in breeding program) would result genetic simultaneous values characteristics.
